Romania is a country of approximately 22 million people whose per capita income is around $1,140 per year. Economic reform in Romania is far behind that of the rest of the other former communist states. Romanian joined NATO in 2004 and is slated to become an EU member in 2007. There is a large gypsy population in Romania that could be as large as 2 million. The number of Evangelicals (including Pentecostal/Charismatics) represents 8.1% of the population. Romania has Europe’s third highest Evangelical population but has not seen any substantial growth in the past 10 years. Pray that our Bible college work there would expand and that God would open further doors of ministry for us in this nation. Pray also that EU membership will not distract the people from their spiritual needs. Pray for Bill Koehler who oversees the work in Romania.
